Who we are
Most consulting firms solve the problem they were hired to solve. Pallas was built around a different premise: that the problem on the table is rarely the actual problem. The real one is usually one layer down: a decision that got made by default, a structure that outlived its usefulness, a dynamic no one inside the organization has standing to name out loud.
That is where Pallas does its best work.
Pallas Consulting is a boutique advisory firm serving leaders and owners who want an honest, outside read on what is actually happening inside their organization and a clear path forward. The work is diagnostic before it is prescriptive. Deliverables are short and specific. The engagements are designed for leaders who want to get it right, not just hear what they already believe.
Pallas is named for Pallas Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom and strategy, and the patron of both craftsmen and strategists. She is almost always depicted with an owl: a creature that sees clearly in the dark.
About the Founder
Dylan Nix holds a degree in Applied Psychology from Georgia Tech. He learned how organizations and people function as and in interconnected teams. His JD from the University of Georgia School of Law only further refined his ability to analyze a problem and state clearly a solution that works and balances the needs and requirements of all concerned stakeholders. He has spent the last 15 years doing versions of the same work in a wide array of rooms. At JPMorgan Private Client and Paulson Investment Company, he worked with investors to correctly understand risk and make specific investment decisions. At Mutual of Omaha Bank he spent several years sitting with small and medium-sized business owners as they worked through financial systems, capital outlays, and the decisions that don't come with clean answers. At Oracle, he advised enterprise executives on the software and the workflows to make their HR processes work seamlessly. Most recently, his time at the Santa Rosa Metro Chamber provided an unusually clear view of how Sonoma County's organizations actually function, and what quietly holds them back. This variety of experience allows him to synthesize best practices across industries into actionable plans that don’t rely on heavy specialization to execute.
He holds a Certified ScrumMaster credential and FINRA Series 7, 6, and 63 licenses — an unusual combination that reflects the range of rooms he has sat in. He is also, for what it's worth, a person.
Dylan grew up in the South and made his home in Sonoma County. He likes to think he melds the best of both worlds. Michelle, Dylan’s wife, is a Sonoma native and has spent years in the wine industry as an expert, advocate, and attorney. Dylan has a son in high school, and, while proud of his report card, Dylan is most happy that he is growing to be happy, healthy, and kind.
When he isn’t working, Dylan is tending his tomato plants, watching baseball or college football, working through the New York Times crossword, or sitting on the couch with Michelle watching Scottish murder mysteries. She loves the accents.
